Organizations that work hand-in-hand with the US Department of Defense (DoD) need to have safeguards in place to protect the sensitive information they process, store, or otherwise come into contact with. To be eligible for DoD contracts, you’ll need to achieve Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). The CMMC, now in version 2.0 as of November 2021, is overseen by the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense – Acquisition & Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)).
Depending on the amount and kinds of data you process, you’ll need to achieve Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 Certification. Achieving and maintaining your certification requires implementing a variety of security controls sourced from National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) frameworks. Then, you’ll also need to assess the implementation, often through a third party.
The CMMC is critical to the safety of the DoD and all US citizens. But it can be challenging.
And that’s where we come in. RSI Security’s CMMC Checklist breaks down everything you need to know to get started on your journey to compliance—and DoD preferred contractor status.
